Qualwood™ Hidden Rug Hangers

Installation Hints

Your Qualwood Hidden Rug Hanger is designed to securely hold and display rugs or other fabrics.  The hanger back is attached to the wall with screws.  The hanger front is attached to your fabric with Velcro®.  The two parts of the hanger are then held in place by gravity.

Installing the Screws in the Wall:

        1.       First locate and install the screws that will hold the hanger to the wall.   The hanger has keyhole slots on the back that will hang on the heads of screws.

2.       The type of screws used will depend on the wall material and construction.  Select screws which can be securely installed in the wall and which have a head that fits into the keyhole slots.

3.       At each keyhole slot a small hole is drilled completely through the back piece of the hanger.  Hold the back against the wall.  Be sure it is at the proper height and is level.  Now push the enclosed small nail through each of the small holes to mark the wall location of each screw.  Install a screw at each mark.

4.       Install the hanger back on the screws.

Attaching the Qualwood Hanger to Your Wall Hanging:

If your wall hanging is made from a fabric that sticks to Velcro (like most Southwest style wool rugs):

        1.       Place your wall hanging on a flat surface with the back side up.

2.       Press the Velcro strip of the hanger front against the top edge of your wall hanging.

3.       Now just place the hanger front on top of the hanger back as illustrated.

If your fabric does not stick to Velcro you must attach a strip of felt to the back on the wall hanging:

        1.       You will be attaching a 1½-inch wide strip of felt to the top back edge of your wall hanging.

The felt can be sewed on, attached with pins or attached with an iron-on adhesive.  If ordered, the felt included with the hanger has the adhesive.

2.       To attach the felt with the adhesive, first cut the felt to the proper length.

3.       Place the felt on the back of your hanging with the adhesive (shiny) side against the fabric.  Locate it at the top edge of your hanging.

4.       Cover the felt with a piece of cotton fabric.  Then press for 15 seconds using a steam iron on the wool setting.     Note:  Once the felt is attached with the iron it cannot be removed.  However, the adhesive may not stick to all fabrics.  If it does not stick, or you do not want to use adhesive, just attach the felt with pins.

5.       Place your wall hanging on a flat surface with the back side up.

6.       Press the Velcro strip of the hanger front against the felt strip on your wall hanging.

7.       Now just place the hanger front on top of the hanger back as illustrated.
